"Being a carer can be the most rewarding and frustrating role.

Rewarding because you are able to help and be there for your loved one, see them smile and ensure that they have a better quality of life.

Frustrating because you can start to feel like your life isn't your own and their needs come before yours. Which can mean missing out on fun event or attending and feeling guilty you left. Or just feeling like you can't live a "care free" life.

Personally, I have been a carer for my mum who has paranoid Schizophrenia. She was diagnosed in 1990 and year after I was born. So I have always been a carer from as young as I can remember. Now At the age of 32 I feel like i wish I was care free and can live without having to always think of someone else's needs.

Living in Tower Hamlets isn't the best place to be a carer as there isn't much support. Services such as "A befriended" have been taken away. This service used to being so much joy to my mum and helped her to leave the house and felt like she had a real friend.

Being a carer is a hard and under rated job. I have lots of love and respect for anyone who cares for someone."-
